NY BROOKHAVEN — Board of Zoning Appeals approves school expansion and 30 variances. The Brookhaven Board of Zoning Appeals approved The Stony Brook School expansion project including a 49-foot dormitory, 46-foot practice facility, and 45-foot STEM educational building with ground floor areas up to 35,000 square feet, far exceeding the standard 11,200-square-foot limit; the school's request for a one-story practice facility was eliminated. The board also approved a 0.90-acre site for a Dunkin Donuts conversion despite a 2-acre requirement, granted two wall signs while denying a monument sign, and approved more than 25 residential variances for additions, pools, decks, and garages.
Several applications were held or postponed to October hearings.
