NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven zoning board denies motor vehicle repair facility; approves dozens of variances. The board unanimously rejected Dodaro Construction's request for a motor vehicle repair facility with depot and outdoor parking on Middle Island Road. The seven-member board, led by Chairman Howard Bergson, approved residential setback and addition variances for more than 40 properties, including Donald O'Hanlon's three-lot parcel division and a partial approval of Robert Vormittag's 18-foot detached garage (workshop and bathroom denied).
Commercial approvals included La Placita Market's grocery expansion in Shirley, a Best Buy sign permit in Stony Brook, and most of Mount Sinai Regency's restaurant/supermarket variances; outside seating was denied.
