NY BROOKHAVEN — The Brookhaven Board of Zoning Appeals approved 26 residential variance applications during a November 15 session led by Chairman Howard Bergson, clearing property improvements for decks, pools, additions, and structures across town neighborhoods from Sound Beach to Manorville. Most approvals involved minor setback and yard variances for residential properties. Two cases were held for continued hearings on November 29: Sara Devany's application for a two-story residence addition on Fraternity Lane in Stony Brook and the David Pennise Family Trust application in Mastic.
Melissa Coello's pool house was approved at 500 square feet maximum instead of the requested 789 square feet, with conditions to be incorporated into the building permit.
