Brookhaven approves $316K drainage bond, enacts four code amendments

NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven Town Board approves $316,000 drainage bond and four code amendments. Town Supervisor Daniel J. Panico and the full board voted unanimously on the bond resolution to fund storm water and drainage infrastructure improvements around the Mill Pond Outfall Area, while enacting code amendments affecting wetlands, waterways, fire prevention, and a new tax exemption for permanently and totally disabled military veterans, with County Legislator Chad Lennon supporting the veterans exemption.

The board also voted unanimously on 42 additional resolutions covering grant applications, property acquisitions for drainage, intermunicipal agreements, vehicle maintenance bids, and approved planning applications for a restaurant at 278 Portion Road in Ronkonkoma and Stony Brook Commons at 205 Hallock Road in Stony Brook. The meeting featured extensive public comment on drainage issues affecting Mill Pond and Harbor Road areas.
