Brookhaven Approves $345,152 Park Bond, Enacts Police Spouse Tax Exemption

NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven Town Board approves $345,152 bond for Robert Rowley Park improvements and passes tax exemption for police officer spouses. All votes were unanimous. The Board approved multiple planning applications on consensus agendas and accepted a Manorville Partners II LLC land donation for open space, authorized professional service requisitions exceeding $35,000 each for youth baseball umpire services and technology projects, and accepted a draft environmental impact statement for the Brookhaven Logistics Center development.
Town Attorney Annette Eaderesto presented an introductory local law granting a tax exemption for surviving spouses of police officers killed in the line of duty; resident Michelle Holfester spoke in support. The Board also authorized a rideshare parking license agreement with Bridgeport and Port Jefferson Steamboat Company.
