Brookhaven approves Starbucks development on Middle Island

NY BROOKHAVEN — The Brookhaven Town Board unanimously approved development of a Starbucks with drive-through on Middle Island following a public hearing, and authorized more than $3.1 million in bonds for airport improvements and environmental restoration. The board voted to issue $1.7 million for an airfield lighting vault and generator at Calabro Airport, $463,087 for runway rehabilitation, and $988,128 for saltmarsh habitat restoration in Mastic Beach. The board also adopted 33 assessment liens for property cleanup and maintenance, approved environmental preservation fund appropriations for three separate property acquisitions, and adopted amendments to the Uniform Traffic Code, all by unanimous vote.
