Brookhaven authorizes nearly $40 million in capital bonds

NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven Town Board authorizes $39.9 million in capital bonds. The board unanimously approved capital funding for $12.1 million in stormwater and drainage infrastructure, $10.2 million in road reconstruction, $3.4 million in facility improvements, and $3.2 million in parks and recreation upgrades, along with enhancements to utilities, lighting, and equipment. The board also unanimously approved a planned retirement community development in Patchogue by Kelly Builders and Development Group LLC following public hearings, adopted three amendments to town ordinances covering towing businesses, graffiti penalties, and boat control regulations, and accepted federal and county grants for terrapin habitat protection and downtown streetlighting.
