NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven board approves 21 resolutions, eyes major stormwater and environmental projects. Town Supervisor Edward P. Romaine secured authority to submit a $2.871 million state grant application for Laura Lee Drive stormwater infrastructure in Center Moriches, with $2.153 million in expected state aid.
The board also authorized an $850,000 bond for saltmarsh restoration at Southern Mastic Beach. All votes were unanimous. Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro reported the town holds only 25 to 30 percent salt storage capacity due to bridge closures affecting supplier deliveries.
A contentious public hearing on a proposed construction debris transfer station in Medford drew numerous speakers opposing and supporting the facility, though the board deferred action.
