Brookhaven Town Board Adopts Data Center Moratorium

NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven Town Board restricts data center development with unanimous moratorium vote. The board adopted a new chapter of the town code establishing a moratorium on data center facilities pending further study. Supervisor Daniel J.
Panico and Councilmembers Jonathan Kornreich, Jane Bonner, Neil Manzella, Michael A. Loguercio Jr., Neil J. Foley, and Karen Dunne Kesnig all voted in favor, with Dunne Kesnig serving as the lead sponsor.
The board also voted unanimously to increase bonding authority for a landfill cooling facility by $300,000 to $1 million total, and adopted an Artificial Intelligence Use Policy and amendments to the Uniform Traffic Code.
