NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven Town Board advances parking modernization and property maintenance. The board voted unanimously to authorize $1 million in bonds for a town-wide parking system replacing traditional sticker booths, saving approximately $250,000 annually in seasonal labor costs. Parking will charge 50 cents per hour for non-sticker holders, down from $5 per day.
Concurrently, the board determined that a vacant, deteriorating residence at 7 Noble Street in Blue Point is unsafe, giving the owners 30 days to obtain a building permit and demonstrate repair work or face demolition. Supervisor Edward P. Romaine emphasized there will be no extensions; the town will proceed with demolition if the owners do not comply.
