NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven Town Board unanimously backs $1 million to $2 million highway equipment increase. The special meeting voted unanimously on a Home Rule message supporting state legislation that would raise the town's highway equipment purchase authority. Supervisor Edward P.
Romaine justified the increase, citing the town's 450,000-person population and more than 2,000 miles of roads as evidence the current $1 million cap is inadequate. Town Clerk Donna Lent was directed to forward the resolution to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and state legislators representing Brookhaven.
