Brookhaven zoning board approves 23 variances, defers 15 applications

NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven Board of Zoning Appeals approves variances for commercial development and residential modifications. The board voted unanimously to grant Tanglewood Commons LLC variances for a 2-lot commercial division at Pine Road and Route 112 in Coram, including lot width relief (245.3 feet permitted against 300 feet required) and rear yard setback relief (44 and 48.2 feet against 75 feet required), plus sign variances with height relief to 17.5 feet. Under Chairman Howard Bergson and Deputy Chairman Rick Cunha, with members Ronald Lindsay, Erin A.
Sidaras, Kevin Casey, and Jeffrey Lanzet (Charles Lazarou absent), the board granted approximately 23 additional residential variances for lot divisions, dwelling additions, and accessory structures across town. The board granted Severino Aliperti and Danielle Eustace a one-year special permit to harbor two goats with stable variances and postponed 15 applications, including Fire Island Pines Operations LLC seasonal staff housing cases, for hearings on August 20.
