NY BROOKHAVEN — The Brookhaven Town Board approved amendments to the town zoning code on a 5-1 vote, with Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich voting against Local Law 15 of 2024, which revised Chapter 85 definitions and special permit criteria. Town Supervisor Daniel J. Panico and Councilmembers Neil Manzella, Michael Loguercio, Neil Foley, and Karen Dunne Kesnig supported the measure.

In related action, the board unanimously contracted with NV5 New York for a Vision Zero Action Plan to improve public safety and eliminate traffic crashes, and accepted grant awards from the Nature Conservancy and New York State for environmental projects including flood mitigation and saltmarsh restoration. The board also declared four properties unsafe and authorized code enforcement proceedings across multiple town hamlets.
