Board of Zoning Appeals · Meeting of May 25, 2022
NY BROOKHAVEN — The Brookhaven Board of Zoning Appeals approved fuel cells and signage modifications for Northville Industries Corp. on an industrial parcel in Holtsville and granted more than 30 residential zoning variances and special permits at its May 25 meeting, while postponing decision on Aldi supermarket signage and parking applications in Rocky Point to June 8. Board Chairman Paul DeChance and members voted unanimously on Northville Industries applications for front yard setback relief and ground sign variances; the industrial company sought approximately 40 to 50 feet of setback where 100 feet is required, along with approval of a 60-square-foot sign where 18 square feet is permitted. The board also approved residential improvements and special permits for animal harboring, including chickens and pigs for Eastport residents; one Mastic Beach parcel division was partially denied, with the board rejecting land division but granting porch setback relief subject to obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy.
