NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven zoning board approves mixed-use development with extensive relief. The Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously granted variances for a Chick-Fil-A restaurant with drive-through and medical facility at Middle Country Road and Boyle Road in Selden, allowing an 80-foot reduction in required front yard setbacks, landscaping below code minimums, and a 50-foot flagpole variance. Wall signage and a 30.5-square-foot ground sign, setback 10 feet from the road, were approved; an arrow canopy design was denied.
The board postponed to August 9 the Stony Brook School's request for height and floor area variances for three new campus buildings. Routine residential variances for pools, garages, sheds, and lot divisions were approved throughout Brookhaven.
