NY BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven Board of Zoning Appeals rejects three high-profile variance applications. The board voted unanimously to deny Mohammad Iqbal's request to convert an attached garage into habitable space at his Mastic Beach rental property, citing code violations, missing safety detectors, structural damage, and unpermitted residential use across his portfolio; restoration must occur within 30 days. The board also voted 6-0 to deny Enma Lilliana Pardo Castillo's application for six variances on a 50-foot Medford lot requiring 88 percent relief, and 4-2 to deny Mastic Beach Rentals LLC's application for nine variances to divide a parcel.
Board decisions cited deviations from established neighborhood development patterns.
